Everyone loves a good protein shake, for the most part. The shaker cups filled with high-quality protein are loved by many. One thing that goes unnoticed and under the radar when it comes to protein shakes is the flavor. For something so important, like the taste, it should really be brought up more often. Consumers don’t just want something that works, they want something they enjoy while it works. Today’s article, we’re talking about the top 3 best tasting protein shakes. This trio of protein powders has unmatched tastes that have the consumer keep coming back for more.
Why’s The Taste Important?
Before jumping straight in, I’d like to explain why the taste of not just protein shakes, but of anything you eat is important. Putting it plainly, if you don’t like how something tastes, you’re not going to try it again. It’s as simple as that, common sense.
That principle most definitely applies to protein shakes. In my day, I’ve had some nasty tasting protein powders and done some reviews on them on this site. I didn’t hesitate to not only not take a 2nd sip but just toss the whole powder entirely. The taste is a crucial part of protein powder and should be crafted with delicacy.
At the same time, if you love the taste of a powder, you’re going to crave it often. You’ll be wanting the sweet flavor of the protein shake. When you run out, you’re almost guaranteeing the company that you’ll buy the powder again. Unless you like to experiment like me, but most protein shake consumers are conservative with their flavors.
If you know protein powders, you know that they’re not only a lot out there but also a lot of flavors. Out of the thousands of flavors out there, I’ve composed this list with the 3 best tasting protein shakes. Let’s check them out!
3.) Dymatize Elite Casein
Taking the bronze spot on our list, we have Dymatize’s Elite Casein. I tried this casein not too long ago, and it’s turned into my favorite casein for one reason, the taste. Although there are only 4 flavors in total for this protein, I’m very certain that you’re bound to find one you like. I sure did, the rich chocolate and I are great friends.
For those of you who don’t take casein or don’t know too much about it, there’s an unfortunate common theme when it comes to casein—the subpar taste. For many casein powders, the flavors taste chalky and gritty due to the way they’re manufactured.
Dymatize was rather fed up with that, and set a new standard of flavor with their elite casein. Although the company is no older than 10 years old, they’re still hanging with the big boys because of the excellent quality of their products.
2.) Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey Protein
In our silver medal spot, we have the classic, the staple, the old reliable from Optimum Nutrition, their Gold Standard Whey Protein. As one of the oldest supplement companies out there, Optimum Nutrition has been here since the 80s, going strong for almost 40 years.
It’s rare if you’ve never seen this protein powder ever. Maybe you’ve seen it on your buddy’s pantry or shelf, on a commercial, or you may even own it yourself. The container may change here and there, but the formula and quality are still the same.
ON’s Whey Protein was actually the first protein powder I’ve drunken, introduced to me by my older brothers. The chocolate flavor, that’s actually hard to find now, was my absolute favorite, tasted kinda like cookies n’ creams. However, one protein powder crossed my path and has forever hooked me ever since.
1.) Bodybuilding.com Whey Protein
Taking the shiny gold medal on the top 3 list is Bodybuilding.com’s Signature Whey Protein. This is the protein powder I use personally that I crave over every time I think about it. Of course, the flavor I roll with is chocolate, and it’s just as good, if not better than Optimum Nutrition’s chocolate flavor.
The mixing of every one of these protein powders plays a major part in their overall rating. No one likes drinking clumps in their protein shake, it’s just unenjoyable. Mixing balls do help dissolve the chunks, but when even the whisk ball can’t help, you have to dock it points.
Then again, after it’s all said and done, it’s up to you, the reader, to decide on your favorite protein powder. It’s all a matter of preference, and here are just a couple of protein powders with superb tastes. You may despise chocolate, and that’s totally fine, there exist more flavors out there for you. This is only a peek at the best flavors of protein powders out there.
There you have it, the top 3 best tasting protein shakes, in my opinion, of course. All three protein powders offer the drinker a lovely sensation for their taste buds. The ratings given to them represent accurate depictions I made from them after drinking for long periods of time. I’ll leave links below to full reviews I made on each powder if you’d like to look into them more.
